The Wereldmuseum (world museum) is suited next to the Maas River in a beautiful old building. The basis contains of a large exposition of art from Asia and Oceania mixed with temporary (traveling) expositions, like about the Samuari Warriors. From June on, the new exhibition about Manga starts. A show you might really like.
Like no other
The world museum is kind of different compared to the other Rotterdam museums. It’s located in a beautiful old maritime building and still contains its unique old details. Prince Hendrik the seafarer established it’s Royal Yachtclub in this building in 1851 and the todays art collection could have been the collection of this globetrotter. The most impressive part of the museum is the collection of the Tibetan Buddhist. It’s like you just entered the temple of the Dalai Lama himself, goose bombs all over the place.
With each new exhibition the museum opens with a small movie presented when you enter the show. What I like about the museum is that they get you completely emerged into the other cultures, like that of the Samurai. One of the tall rooms presents dozens of lined up battle suits in a characteristic red light. Together with the sounds of the battle field, played in the background, you can imagine how these small warriors conducted their fights in Japan.

I work in communications and have kept an on-line fashion journal for years. I'll show you around Rotterdam, my home town, a magical place open on the world. Sparkling restaurants, deliciously hidden between sea and sky. My little extra: globetrotter and multi-lingual
