"It's not only a great shop, it's a whole experience."Paris
40 Rue de Sevigné
Shopping in the Marais
The rabbis of the Pletzl, the façade of the synagogue designed by Hector Guimard in Art nouveau style, and the prêt-à-porter boutiques have finally settled in together. Rue des Rosiers is no longer a dead zone on Shabbat. The boutiques stay open on Sunday next door to the Finkelstein & Family deli and pastry shop. L’Eclaireur has a showroom here.
L’Eclaireur, as it name says
The city shop changes into an exhibition gallery or a theatre stage. This is the path this splendid shop, if you can call it that, appears to be tracing. It's so different from the others. Far removed from the standardized refinement of luxury shops, where products are merely goods to be consumed, the items here are conceptual, extraordinary and reflect the soul of their creators. When you flip over a label, it's to find out the name of the artist, not the price of the item.
If you still want to leave with your arms loaded with packages, there are many leading fashion names like Damir Doma, Giles, Comme des Garcons and Haider Ackermann.

Comfortable in working-class neighbourhoods and the tonier areas of Paris, I never get tired of rediscovering this timeless city. The Sex Pistols set the pace when I was younger. New technologies fill my working days now. My little extra: discovering fine eating spots around the capital for romantic dinners!
