Organic but not vegetarian
At Guten Abend Bio absolutely everything is organic. At times, organic doesn’t mean really organic. However, when the Germans say “bio”, you can be sure that it really is organic in every sense of the word!
Guten Abend Bio is a lovely little restaurant, which the owner is very proud of. It’s an organic restaurant, without being exclusively vegetarian; the Germans often confuse the two. Bread, meat (and even game), cheese, wine and spirits should all be organic. That’s the philosophy of this charming man who has spent more than fifteen years doing this job with passion.
Organic and enjoyable
Here there’s no attempt at the “green” vegetation decor and no plain white walls to represent purity. Far from the organic clichés, the decor is straight forward verging on rustic or country like. You eat outdoors, facing a small tree lined square where you can savour a gentle summer evening. This calm corner is easily recognised: a pretty little golden moon poetically decorates the front door. After salving your conscience with a that- was-good-for -me dinner, you’ll leave the restaurant saying: “Guten Abend Bio”.
The quality and freshness of the produce are unanimously recognised by the local press. I’ve eaten there on numerous occasions. One evening the owner joined us at our table, having noticed that we were speaking French. The conversation inevitably turned to talking about all things organic. Within minutes we had all the articles from the last few years congratulating Guten Abend Bio for the quality of its produce.
The Cologne area provides my daughters and I with real quality of life. I like conviviality, healthy things, crafts and every kind of creativity. Together, we'll explore the side of Cologne that promotes the art of living. My little extra: the art of living.
