The fun of climbing for young and oldCologne
If you feel like a bit of sporting activity, you should head for the Kletterfabrik climbing centre, which is in the heart of Cologne’s Ehrenfeld district. This 1,000 m² area has everything a sportsman could need to get the heart racing. Beginners and those with more experience will find exactly what they’re after here.
For beginners with high hopes
I would recommend that any beginners going to the Kletterfabrik should go for the trial lesson, which you should sign up for as early as you can. A coach will be with you and show you through the room and the various different walls, to make sure you’re quite safe. It’s advisable to wear comfortable sports clothes which are not too baggy, as well as clean indoor shoes. If you wish, you can also hire professional climbing shoes, and this applies for all safety equipment etc.; when you’re travelling, you don’t always carry these sorts of things around in your suitcase. There are also special offers available for children and younger people.
The main attraction here is currently a block which stands alone and requires a bit of preparation. You can then climb as much as you want. And the various different routes mean you’ll never get bored. When you stop to get your breath back, you can buy yourself a strong coffee, cold drinks and sandwiches. It might be a good idea to look at the website first.
I've always loved Cologne. The city is industrial and romantic at the same time. I love my city for its galleries, classical concerts and elegant restaurants and its traditional and very trendy bars! My little extra: I love words, the arts and literature!
