As soon as the sun begins to beat down, I often head for Souppresso. Especially midweek, when I like to enjoy a quick soup during my lunch break. This family restaurant is run by Sandra Szymczak-Willemsen, her husband Andreas Willemsen, and their adorable children Greta and Jaspar.
I just love the small herb garden in the courtyard, where you can relax for a few minutes right in the heart of Cologne. The balsamic vinegar cream and pears is definitely worth a try, and in season you will even find truffle ravioli with parmesan butter, or vegan penne with a Swiss chard garnish. Just thinking about it is making my mouth water!
Sandra and Andreas know a thing or two about sustainability and fair trade. Anyone who wants to find out more or is looking for some culinary inspiration should pay a visit to this charming couple. They sometimes organise cookery lessons or allow the public to watch them in action on open days, when you can sample some of their delights.
I've always loved Cologne. The city is industrial and romantic at the same time. I love my city for its galleries, classical concerts and elegant restaurants and its traditional and very trendy bars! My little extra: I love words, the arts and literature!
