Welcome to the IslandCologne
Brüsseler Platz 2
If you love Asian food, you can’t help but adore Bali. In this cellar on the Brüsseler Platz, the charming owner Varuni Siauw invites us to dine each night from 18:00. Sunday is rest-day. Aside from the very tasteful interior decor, with its romantically lighting, the exterior is also inviting. Reservations are advisable, especially on weekends. For those in a hurry, all dishes are also available for take-out. The choice of wines go well with the food and you can also order delicious cocktails. Oh, and by the way, it’s a cash-only place.
Exotic, spicy, Indonesian
My n° 1 favourite dish is the ayam buni angus: chicken with plenty of ginger and garlic, doused with a sweet sauce made with soya and arrak. I don’t think you could find a tastier dish anywhere, in any city. I’d also recommend the mango flavoured tea. Although the vegetarian bola bola is also completely my style. And the lamb curry, of course… Those who have travelled to Bali will surely confirm: yes, these are definitely the enchanting fragrances of that magnificent island in the Indian Ocean. In other words, when you visit Cologne, it’s worth taking a little excursion to exotic Bali while you’re here.

I've always loved Cologne. The city is industrial and romantic at the same time. I love my city for its galleries, classical concerts and elegant restaurants and its traditional and very trendy bars! My little extra: I love words, the arts and literature!
