The Contigo in Aachen is an enchanting Fair Trade Shop with its own coffee roast in Aachen's historic Altstadt (the "Old City"). A magnificently convenient rendezvous for shopping, killing time and simply living. The fragrance of freshly roasted organic coffee beans wafts beguilingly past your nose here.

Fine hand-made chocolates

A fresh cup of organic specialty coffee in the morning at the inviting coffee bar in Aachen's Contigo, and the day quite simply can only get better. Contigo's motto is: "A trade in which everyone is a winner." This means that the goods on offer here are winners for everyone attending. There is a profitable partnership with producers and small farmers in Africa, Latin America and Asia. On two floors, there is a selected range of fair trade artwork and jewellery, as well as teas and chocolates.

What more could a coffee lover ask for?

Quite simply, the variety of world class pure organic coffees, highland Arabica beans and first class Coffea canephora made an impression on me. Each product in the Contigo tells a little story (and sometimes a great one as well). You won't find an anonymous mass of goods here: You can learn on the spot about craft workers and their working and living conditions. Coffee seminars are held at regular intervals, in which those interested can learn all about the history of coffee plantations. Here, all the time is spent on the customer, which makes the whole concept even more appealing.

I've always loved Cologne. The city is industrial and romantic at the same time. I love my city for its galleries, classical concerts and elegant restaurants and its traditional and very trendy bars! My little extra: I love words, the arts and literature!
