ArtyFarty, in the "Belgischen Viertel” (Belgian district), is the first gallery in Cologne to exhibit this contemporary art genre to the public: urban art. Very often pop items originating from the street scene are exhibited at private viewings or at other events. This very fashionable gallery then transforms itself into a bar, enabling the evening to be prolonged in an atmosphere of complete relaxation.

The name ArtyFarty alone suggests that you are in a rather unusual gallery. In the first place, you will have some difficulty finding the entrance: from number 46 Maastrichter Strasse you proceed into a sort of inner courtyard, from which a concrete stairway leads to a vaulted cellar. Once down there, that is it, apart from the rather faded atmosphere of museums that awaits you: depending on the exhibitions, you will also find striking graffiti or extravert paintings or installations designed as scenes of dramatic art. You will find yourself looking at an accumulation of recently collected objects that you would be very unlikely to see in this form in any other gallery.

Each day unlike the last

With ArtyFarty, the dynamic Coskun Gueven has been able to achieve his dream, in exhibiting only works in which he finds something of himself. It is out of the question for tomorrow to resemble yesterday, and it is with such a permanent process of recreation that spirits of his inventive and provocative calibre operate. At the weekend, you will come across the charismatic boss in the adjoining bar which is dedicated to night time events. Funk, soul or electro, the evenings begin and the nights end with music. In this relaxed atmosphere, enthusiasts sip their beer in the company of bohemians, neighbouring artists and friends.

Opening hours
Gallery opening times: Tuesday to Friday from 12 am to 6 pm and Sundays from 12 am to 4 pm.
Bar opening times: Thursday to Saturday from 9 pm.

I've always loved Cologne. The city is industrial and romantic at the same time. I love my city for its galleries, classical concerts and elegant restaurants and its traditional and very trendy bars! My little extra: I love words, the arts and literature!
