MUSEE DES INSTRUMENTS DE MUSIQUE
2, Montagne de la Cour

Being a music lover is about more than listening to one's iPod all day. It's also about exploring the history of an art form that is so rich in emotion.
The collection at the Brussels museum of musical instruments includes some 8,000 instruments from throughout history, each one more original than the next. A total of 1,200 are on public display. That gives the MIM world renown and makes it a choice destination for the curious and the musical among you.
While the MIM is an obvious choice for musicians, it also attracts people interested in architecture. At the end of the 1970s, the Belgian state realised the importance of gathering under one roof all those instruments that had previously been stored in 15 different locations in the Sablon district. The former Old England buildings were fully renovated to provide the MIM with the premises it needed. The museum is housed in one of the finest art nouveau buildings in Brussels, which dates from 1899. Its exceptional facade alone is enough to take your breath away!
I work as a fashion consultant, tear through the papers every morning, race off to concerts whenever I can and claim ""belgitude"" as a guarantee of original quality! My little extra: new shops, trendy concept-stores, organic restaurants and artists' workshops.
