A night in the golden sixtiesBrussels

Austin Powers has been to Brussels. Psychedelic wallpaper, sofas worthy of the Kubric version of the Space Odyssey, coloured lights. The Vintage Hotel invites us to an immersion in the history and furnishings of the 60.
The golden sixties revived
Five minutes by taxi from the Gare du Midi, the Vintage Hotel is an unusual experience. A trip back to the golden sixties. Bernard Wilmet, director of the establishment that opened in 2009, wanted to 'preserve the original style of the house’, motivated by 'a love of fine furniture'. Amateur antique hunters will rejoice at this gold mine of objects suitably presented in context.
29 unique rooms
On entering the hotel, I am overwhelmed by a sense of travelling in time. This promised to be as legendary as the sixties themselves. There are 29 rooms with a unique vintage décor, from the wallpaper to the bathroom and telephones. The attention to detail is striking. Single, double, family rooms and suites. All equipped with a television and WiFi. Consider booking via the internet for a free breakfast. Who has not dreamed of spending a night in the world of Jacques Tati?
I teach tennis in the city and also write about culture for a number of publications. I love to travel and meet people. My city? It's an improv concert in a down-to-earth bar, an exhibition built on a work site, a play performed in the heart of the old city... My little extra: combining sport and culture!
