The egg Brussels
173 Rue Bara
15,000 m² of interactions
Established by Alain Heureux, this private sector project took some time to take shape. As a place where all is possible, The Egg brings together companies and associations in areas such as marketing, media, culture and PR. Its aim is to become one of Brussels’ main centres of culture and exchange. It is a genuine 'Living Lab', and as such has no fewer than four 150 to 750 seat theatres. Because they are highly adaptable, these can also be used for concerts, films and conferences.
Glass and steel
You enter the huge ground floor, 10,000 m² in area, via the reception hall. Here, there is a trendy café restaurant run by the founders of Cook&Book. There are meeting rooms, lecture halls, an exhibition hall and a laboratory in the right wing. A fantastic mezzanine floor looks over the whole thing. The architecture is mainly glass and steel. Your curiosity may lead you to take in an exhibition, before a meal, followed by a play in the evening. This is a truly original place due to its activities and the scale of its ambitions, and the Egg looks to have a very bright future.
I teach tennis in the city and also write about culture for a number of publications. I love to travel and meet people. My city? It's an improv concert in a down-to-earth bar, an exhibition built on a work site, a play performed in the heart of the old city... My little extra: combining sport and culture!
