Rewarded by the guide Michelin for a faultless career, Dutch chef Gert Jan Hageman decided on a change of direction 10 years ago. He opened De Kas, an exceptional restaurant located in an old greenhouse dating from the 1920s.

Rediscovering the pure flavour of foods

Hageman’s cuisine is totally organic, and it is as sophisticated as it is healthy, even using his own fruits and vegetables that he picks close to the greenhouse. His dishes only use products that are in season and the taste is incredible! Not only that, De Kas is situated in Frankendael Park, well away from the hurly-burly of the city.

A former greenhouse, fully renovated

The special feature of the restaurant is the greenhouse that serves as its setting. The building is 8 metres high, dates from 1926 and was restored by Hageman with a view to turning it into an exceptional venue. By so doing, he saved it from imminent demolition and gave it a second lease of life.

My favourite dishes

Spring chicken with carrot oil is an absolute delight. I also recommend the freshly-made madeleines, which would have brought colour to Proust’s cheeks. I still find it hard to resist those potato croquettes that just melt in the mouth...

Kitchen open from Monday to Friday 12 pm to 2 pm and 6.30 pm to 10 pm, Saturdays 6.30 pm to 10 pm, closed on Sundays
