On the edge of the Amsterdamse Bos, Amsterdam’s largest wood, Fun Forest provides both young and old with a place to climb around like monkeys over various courses through the trees.

Just like Tarzan

It was while I was looking for a sports activity for my teenage daughter on the internet that I came across Fun Forest. She and her friends had a great time pretending to be Tarzan for three hours. As I tend to get dizzy (just too bad!), I stayed below and watched them, camcorder in hand.

Eight courses, each one a challenge

Fun Forest has eight safe courses with varying degrees of difficulty (colour-coded like skiing pistes!) that provide unusual situations: monkey bridges, ziplines, nets etc. Children aged 7 years and up are allowed on the “Speedrunner” course unaccompanied. Older ones can have a go at other courses, and because they’re wearing a safety harness and helmet, it’s not dangerous. Monitors provide clear instructions and carabine hooks hold onto the careless ones.

Open Wednesday to Sunday, 12 pm to 6 pm; some weekends from 10 am. Booking advised.

Laurence, 46 a cool mum

I’m the mother of two supercharged children. I’ve also been living a great love affair with Holland for the past 20 years! I’ll take you to places in Amsterdam that will make you feel good, where the products and the welcome are high quality and where, most importantly, you’ll never stress out. Ready to go?
