When you enter Gone with the wind, make sure to look up: you'll see more than a hundred mobiles hanging from the ceiling in this fabulous toy store located near the Herengracht canal. Sheer magic!
The object of desire
Mark and Arianne, the happy owners, are passionate about these wire sculptures, from which various figurines and objects dangle and dance in the wind. In their shop you'll find mobiles in all shapes, colours and sizes, for any occasion or age group. Naturally, my youngest adores the wooden ones, with animals or miniature cars. This time he fell in love with a model featuring pirates! Personally, I like the modern ones the best. The shop has all sorts, from Mondrian to the Lion King.
Abstract mobiles for the home
Luckily you don’t need a big budget to enjoy the magic of a lovely mobile. And if you’re like me and you want to find something original to brighten up the lounge, I would recommend Flensted mobiles. These magnificent works of art have delicate rods from which abstract shapes hang and turn.
Ali Baba’s cave
Gone with the wind also sells paper lanterns, wind chimes and a wide range of high-quality wooden toys. The tiny shop was founded fifteen years ago and is filled with a semi-organised jumble of objects. It will bring back memories of the children's story Ali Baba’s cave.
I’m the mother of two supercharged children. I’ve also been living a great love affair with Holland for the past 20 years! I’ll take you to places in Amsterdam that will make you feel good, where the products and the welcome are high quality and where, most importantly, you’ll never stress out. Ready to go?
