Punk night at The MindsAmsterdam

Whenever I feel a little bit nostalgic for my punk years, it's time for a trip to The Minds.
Ankle boots, etc.
OK, so the interior may not seem like much. It may even turn some people off with the dozens of pairs of military boots hanging from light fixtures in the shape of wagon wheels on the ceiling (reminders of a monster pogo?). But this tiny, unpretentious brown café is exactly what I need to remind me of my youth for an evening. The music is loud (punk, as well as ska and rock) and the patrons are deliciously alternative. Some even wear the punk uniform with safety pins, "No Future" badges and the rest of it...Damn, I should have spiked my hair!
Hanging with the squatters
The bar takes its name from the band Simple Minds (André, the owner, was a diehard fan) and serves only real beer - that is: Brabançonne - and you can play billiards or pinball. The place is always full, during the week and at weekends. True, it is located at the heart of Spuistraat, a somewhat peculiar Amsterdam street where the buildings are covered in graffiti and many are still home to squatters. The proximity adds a little spice to the visit.
I’m the mother of two supercharged children. I’ve also been living a great love affair with Holland for the past 20 years! I’ll take you to places in Amsterdam that will make you feel good, where the products and the welcome are high quality and where, most importantly, you’ll never stress out. Ready to go?
