Less than an hour from Paris, is the splendid estate belonging to the Château de Chantilly, dating back to the 14th century. Its grounds, stables, museum of ancient paintings as well as its vast library are certainly worth the detour to visit. Take a guided tour...

André Le Nôtre's favourite gardens

The Château overlooks the vast French gardens by Le Nôtre, the famous French landscape gardener. He meticulously adhered to the rules of geometric and symmetrical layouts, a display of triumph of order over disorder. An exceptional collection of statues can be found there, along with water features reflecting the sky as well as numerous fountains. The exceptional skill of the landscape gardener can also be seen in the water system created for the gardens. Le Nôtre channelled the Oise river by creating a tributary that was henceforth known as the Nonette.

Regional products and Chantilly cream!

During your stroll through the Anglo-Chinese garden, be sure to stop off at the "Restaurant du Hameau" for a little tasting break! In this idyllic and rustic country setting, you can sample real Chantilly cream, hand whipped especially for you in a chilled bowl. Why not also indulge yourself with the succulent duck breast fillets or confits, if you're a fan of regional cooking. Please note, however, the restaurant is open from the beginning of March until mid-November.
When leaving, just as Richard Nixon once said, you might also ask yourself: "Why have I been taken seven times to Versailles and never here?"

Park open every day, except Tuesday in low season.
