Cut off from the major valleys by its walls of limestone, Vercors conceals an undulating landscape, dense forests, small green valleys, sheer cliffs and high mountain pastures. The perched houses of Pont en Royan, the tunnels of the Grand Goulets and the caves of Choranche are some of the other amazing places that are well worth a trip.
And if you enjoy hiking, you’ll love the mid-altitude walks, during which you may come across ibex, chamois, golden eagles and vultures. The braver among you may be tempted by the Grande Traversée du Vercors, an area of 60 kilometres of wilderness.
