Studio Hergebruik( Studio Re-use) presents work by artists and designers from all disciplines, who always use recycling materials, images or concepts. They sell all kind of things, like furniture, clothing, bags, art and lighting.

Old, used things get a new live

The shop is hidden around a small square behind the street called Nieuwe Binnenweg. It’s not so easy to find and not that many people know about this shop. But I think that it’s therefore even more fun to go there.

When you think of reusable staff you might visualise these corny things, but the things they sell at Studio Hergebruik are actually really cool.

The first time I went inside I was really amazed by the rubbish that was transformed into something functional new. It’s a store, but it seems like an exhibition. The things made by the artists out of recycling materials are really creative. For example, the have a lamp of paper taken from the paper cut machine and laptop bags from old sweaters. You can buy everything, but take a filled wallet with as it’s not always that cheap.

Workshops

Are you a creative person? Then I recommend you to follow a workshop at the shop. You can make your own chair or pimp your bag. Very cool (and fun of course).

Chantal, aged 29 informed follower of fashion

I work in communications and have kept an on-line fashion journal for years. I'll show you around Rotterdam, my home town, a magical place open on the world. Sparkling restaurants, deliciously hidden between sea and sky. My little extra: globetrotter and multi-lingual
