From the outside the NAi is an interesting architectonic building. It’s a museum, but also a place with a large archive, library and cultural podium. From the end of April till the end of August the exhibition ‘Making City’ is held her. An interesting exhibition about how cities of the future.

Sunny hotspot

The NAi (Netherlands Architecture institute) is established at the Museumpark; a place where also other museums, like the Boijmans van Beuningingen museum are suited. The museum its focus lays, as the name suggests, in architecture and it’s one off the largest architecture centre of the world. When you enter the building the right side is used for an area with many cool books about architecture and on the opposite a large restaurant can be found for lunch and drinks. There is even a big terrace where you can enjoy the summer sun. Although not that many people are aware of this sunny hotspot, it can be very crowded.

Take your time

There are many different exhibitions held in this place. The new one, which is held until the end off August, is called ‘Making City’. It’s an interesting exhibition about the future development of the cities and how they will look like. More and more people will live in the cities and it’s interesting to see the ideas about how to handle all these people. Cities like New York, Paris, Sao Paulo, Delhi, but also Rotterdam and Den Haag are used as examples. The show is well extended and gives lots of information. Visiting the exhibition for a few hours would certainly not be enough. You can fill your whole day by going there.

Opening hours:

Tuesday till Saturday 10.00 - 17.00 o’clock
, Sunday 11.00 - 17.00 o’clock

I work in communications and have kept an on-line fashion journal for years. I'll show you around Rotterdam, my home town, a magical place open on the world. Sparkling restaurants, deliciously hidden between sea and sky. My little extra: globetrotter and multi-lingual

I'm continuing my tour «Dutch avant-garde architecture to Rotterdam»
