Trendy and funParis
If you like good food and meeting new people, then why not get off the beaten culinary track and come and enjoy a culinary adventure with a real Parisian at home. Welcome to Foodsurfing.
It was while I was looking for recipes on the internet that I came across this new type of social networking site. No photo or measurements proudly displayed, but instead culinary desires to share with others and fully-mastered menus you are invited to come and discover. We’ve all heard of B&B style accommodation; now it’s the food’s turn. It’s an invitation to come and share some time devoted to French specialities cooked with pride and just for you.
Long live social networks!
Originally, of course, there were social networks for bringing travellers together with local hosts wanting to share their culture. Some websites, as a backup, take care of selecting hosts and arrange some happy meetings. This whole little world comprises open and welcoming social networks, whose hosts bravely lay themselves open to the criticisms and verdicts of their guests of an evening.
Hospitality or sharing a meal with strangers of an evening is once again feasible and doable. So go on, why not have a go? It’s fun, there’ll be surprises and sometimes it’ll be delicious. And like Brassens, you might start singing Elle est à toi cette chanson (This song’s for you)!
Comfortable in working-class neighbourhoods and the tonier areas of Paris, I never get tired of rediscovering this timeless city. The Sex Pistols set the pace when I was younger. New technologies fill my working days now. My little extra: discovering fine eating spots around the capital for romantic dinners!
