A small restaurant that will be bigParis
6 rue Victor-Letalle
+ 33 (0) 147972577
The latest Parisian address to be raved about by food critics, Chatomat is the discovery of the season. In the kitchen, a young couple with solid CVs and big ideas.
Hidden in a small street below my apartment, this new pocket sized restaurant is making people talk. This is partly due to the reputations of Chefs Alice di Cagno and Victor Gaillard (L’Arpege and Le Doyen in Paris, Gavroche and Spoona, London…) but also and above all due to their creativity.
Fresh and well executed dishes
The dishes are simple and beautifully cooked, with fresh flavours, using seasonal produce. Some of the food has Italian influences (thanks Alice!), for example a delicate parmesan sauce served alongside salt crusted celery, an artichoke heart cooked al dente, and a sublime panna cotta! No foreign influences for Victor but beautiful crab served with cucumber jelly and pork loin on a bed of cauliflower puree.
Laid back service
In the dining room, Antonio, with his easy and familiar manner, and a beaming smile has stepped straight out of Brazil. Note the Brazilian touch in certain dishes (paode queijo maison, coulis d’acai…) perhaps he has even had a hand in the menu!
Closed Monday, Tuesday, and lunchtime.
Mother, bohemian and Parisian, I love Paris' cosmopolitan side and warmth. Exhibitions, walks, outings with the children...I'll take you on a discovery of the most welcoming places in Paris. My little extra: with my love of food as my compass, I always set course for the best lemon tarts in the city.
