Ahead of its timeCologne
The designer boutique Zeitgeist Cologne, located in the Belgian quarter, reminds me of the Paris boutique, Colette. It’s a similar treasure trove if you’re looking for the latest trends in design, clothing, music, cosmetics, toys, etc.
Design, design, design
I like to come here after work. I never have anything specific in mind, so I’m always surprised when I return home with some of the most chic tit-bits the city has to offer. And the icing on the cake is the owner, Franck Brunat, who has a keen sense for eye-catching products that you will struggle to find anywhere else in Cologne.
I buy and sell, therefore I am
Franck, who is French, only sells products that he himself likes. His stock is often limited – items he stumbles upon while surfing fashion and design blogs. He makes contact with the producers and tries to convince them to display their work exclusively in his Cologne store. Not everyone can boast of owning a hard drive that looks like it’s made of Lego, a perfume with the seductive power of pheromones, or a limited edition Dom Perignon by Andy Warhol. But – you guessed it – Franck can!
Shop ’til you drop
Zeitgeist Cologne is the ideal spot for finding original gifts for loved ones or for yourself. Current top-selling items include the Jeff Koons-style Doggie Balloon piggy bank and Retrosuperfuture’s fashion sunglasses. Franck is always willing to lend a welcoming ear if you want to chat about the world’s finest items.
I've always loved Cologne. The city is industrial and romantic at the same time. I love my city for its galleries, classical concerts and elegant restaurants and its traditional and very trendy bars! My little extra: I love words, the arts and literature!
