Flatmate for a nightCologne
Not only is it one of the trendiest bars in town, the Wohngemeinschaft also invites those passing through to move into one of its rooms for one or more nights. Here's how it works.
Accommodation as a conceptual art
In this youth hostel with a difference, you don't spend the night in some anonymous room with drab and uniform decor; instead you enter the world of an imaginary flatmate. This gives you the chance to share Paul’s unbridled passion for photography, Manu’s memories from his travels in India, and Jimmy's fascination for the 1960s. The decor in each room embodies the "soul" of each flatmate, whose creativity and attention to detail are truly impressive.
Plenty of options
Whether you want an individual, double or family room or the convivial atmosphere of a dormitory, there is something to satisfy all needs and all budgets! So for the modest sum of €20 per night, you can become a flatmate in the room belonging to a Shakespearean theatre troupe. If you want to relax or grab something to eat (breakfast is not included), try the café-bar on the ground floor or some of the popular establishments in the nearby Belgian district. And for €7.50 per day you can even rent a bike and zip around the city like a local. You’ll feel right at home!
Reception is open from 8 am to 3 pm and from 5 pm to 8 pm (late check-ins at the bar until midnight).
I'm a translator and editor for several publications and I love the hidden side of the city, its secret gardens, its discrete gourmet restaurants and its new, high-design spots. Outings with my friends end late at night. My little extra: a dynamic, fun and really trendy Cologne!
