The façade of Pianofabriek sets the tone for Saint-Gilles. This cultural centre is truly exceptional. It brings together both the people of the quarter and the cultures of the whole world. Pianofabriek is also an artistic laboratory and a training centre.
The relationship between the people and the townPlenty of people must be jealous of the municipality of Saint-Gilles. And for good reason, because with its cultural centre Pianofabriek, the inhabitants have a range of leisure and art activities at their disposal. Pianofabriek has its own music label, Fabrika Mundo, and holds concerts that are open to everyone. I’ve also had the chance to attend film screenings as part of Cinédomo – a real success! While waiting for the session to begin, I like to wander through the rooms and admire the temporary exhibitions.
The importance of diversity
To bring people together, Pianofabriek offers activities to build bridges between communities. This involves holding workshops for children, as well as dance, music, language, world cuisine and even IT classes. Everything possible is done to create communication. It’s impossible to describe all the activities at Pianofabriek – there are so many and they are so different. The best thing to do is to go there yourself and have a look around. Ideally, I recommend Café Tango, on the first Sunday of each month from 16:00 to 21:00 (€7).
I'm mad about food. I'm a Brussels native by adoption and I started a fun and girly cooking blog. I decrypt all of the new trends that will eventually show up in your plate! My little extra: surprising culinary discoveries I share with you with great zest and appetite.
