Minimalist Spirit

Martin Margiela is one of the famous names who had a profound effect on the Academy of Antwerp. To discover the uniquely creative world of this fashion house, head to the Dansaert quarter!

Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp

Like the "Six d'Anvers", Raf Simons, A.F. Vandevorst or even Véronique Branquinho, Martin Margiela from Louvain studied at the highly acclaimed Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp. Graduating in 1980, his talent contributed to bringing international recognition to the Belgian fashion scene, firstly through collaborating with Jean-Paul Gaultier and then establishing his own label. Opening the door to his Brussels store is a great way to take in and appreciate his adventurous creativity.

Free Spirit

In addition to the beauty of his collection, I like the enigmatic personality of Margiela. He avoids the press, never appears at the end of his runway shows and is careful not to allow his fashion to become fleeting fads. Additionally, his clothes only have white or numbered labels, with no mention of the brand. An honest fashion, without excessive embellishments - the antithesis of throwaway fashion.

Sophie, 31 FASHION ADDICT

I work as a fashion consultant, tear through the papers every morning, race off to concerts whenever I can and claim ""belgitude"" as a guarantee of original quality! My little extra: new shops, trendy concept-stores, organic restaurants and artists' workshops.
