Sublime architectureIt’s well worth a visit for the building itself. People who like Art Nouveau will certainly think so, given the magnificent building, which was constructed in 1906 by the top man of this genre. Here, you’ll find panelling, metalwork and arabesques typical of the movement, which gives it an extraordinary class and which makes it boundlessly poetic. Fine wooden shelving sublimates the whole place and links its different parts. Before you even enter the world of the comic strip, you’re already transported elsewhere.
Diversity and heritageThis place is a part of Brussels’ historical heritage, as is its name, which it took from the comic strip created by Winsor McCay in 1905 called Little Nemo in Slumberland. You’ll find everything you could ever want about comic strips in this bookshop, from the oldest to the most recent collections, including the classics, mangas, figurines, posters and other items that collectors love. Authors often come here for book signings. It has an inviting atmosphere in an extraordinary setting, which has made this place a reference point in Belgium.
I teach tennis in the city and also write about culture for a number of publications. I love to travel and meet people. My city? It's an improv concert in a down-to-earth bar, an exhibition built on a work site, a play performed in the heart of the old city... My little extra: combining sport and culture!
