To celebrate a special occasion, a friend of mine who works in the wine trade recommended his favourite restaurant: Le Tournant.
Patrons are welcomed at a wooden counter, as spicy and aromatic smells emerge from the open kitchen to tease the senses.
Whitewashed brick walls, slate menus, enticing wine lists hanging on wooden beams, and no more than ten tables... this delightful spot comes with one drawback: its success means you may have to wait for a table, leaning on the bar counter full of hope. In just five minutes ten people have formed a "queue". Patience is rewarded in time.
An adventurous duo
In another life, Philippe and Baptiste worked in law and nursing. Then came this crazy notion to open a restaurant. Their international dishes and slow-cooking stews have made them a success. These natural wine* enthusiasts take great care in choosing their tipples and have now opened a wine bar right next door.
My recommendations: try the King prawns with the coco-pesto-rosso sauce (€14.90) or the sausage rougail (€15.30). The food here is so delicious you'll wish you had discovered it long ago.

I teach tennis in the city and also write about culture for a number of publications. I love to travel and meet people. My city? It's an improv concert in a down-to-earth bar, an exhibition built on a work site, a play performed in the heart of the old city... My little extra: combining sport and culture!
