In a little street close to Berchem station, you will find Veranda, a gastronomic restaurant.
Modestly styled, fresh food, a unique menu at €45 per person, a mix of French and fusion cuisine and bookings made months in advance are all the elements that seduced me during my visit.

The set menu


On an evening out with work colleagues, we headed to Veranda. People who had eaten there before are full of praise for the place. A blackboard on the wall details the unique menu for the evening (with a vegetarian option). When taking the orders, the chef goes to each table to give a full explanation about the menu of the day, comprising two starters, a main course and two desserts.
The freshly prepared dishes are surprising, exceptional and balanced. I treated myself to the dessert consisting of sorbet, fromage blanc and granny smith apples.

A little overview: 10 years spent at the stove gave chef David Schellemans the desire to open his own place giving his gastronomic restaurant a modest café appeal. The produce is ultra fresh and delivered each morning and prepared each day under the careful supervision of the chef.
The clientele is very diverse; young, not so young and business-types. The 26 seats in the restaurant are incredibly popular and booking is an absolute must. For the weekend, you should book at least 8 weeks in advance and usually 2 weeks ahead if you decide to visit during the week.



Open Wednesday to Friday from 12:00-14:00 and from 19:00-22:00. Open weekends, from 19:00-22:00.
