If you are a fan of Belgian beer, you’ve got to visit the city of Antwerp’s last surviving brewery that dates as far back as 1833. You won’t want to miss the guided tour of this monument of beer history and its new brewing house, for a behind the scenes peek at a legendary Antwerp beer.

The ‘bolleke’

‘De Koninck’ is a Belgian beer that is the pride of its city of origin, Antwerp!
The ultimate local specialty, it’s on tap in every café in the city, and beloved by all. No other city in Belgium has such a special relationship with the local brew. The success of this amber beer can also be attributed to its traditional goblet-shaped glass, called the bolleke (meaning a little ball in Antwerp dialect, a reference to its rounded body). All of the De Koninck beers are top-fermented, with a rich and refreshing flavour and brewed with natural ingredients of the highest quality.

Tradition

The De Koninck brewery was founded in 1833 and can claim to be the only traditional Antwerp brewery still operating today. In recent years, it has been renovated, expanded and modernised, but the pride, passion and know-how of its craftsmen remain unchanged. This noble tradition is currently in the hands of the fifth generation of the Van den Bogaert family. When you visit the site, a professional guide will reveal all the secrets of the brewing process and will teach you the perfect pouring technique along with, of course, a tasting session.

Marie-France, 32 Public relations manager

Born in Africa, I've lived between Europe, the United States and my homeland. A real mix of cultures! I'm always connected to social networks and on the lookout for great fashion, lifestyle, music and outing deals. I work in Antwerp as a public relations manager. I'm also a presenter for a TV music channel. My little extra: I like to get out and meet people.
