A stop-off for wine-loversAmsterdam

Though the Netherlands are more especially known for their huge range of beers*, wine* is by no means written off and remains a great passion for many Amsterdam citizens. I particularly like stopping off at Vyne at the end of the day. Its elegant décor makes you want to go back there; in fact to stay there.
A wall of wines
Here, complete transparency is the thing. The wine* bottles take up a whole section of wall, which creates new cravings every time I go in. The selection is decidedly international, with great new bottles every month. You could allow yourself to be tempted by a bottle of red* from Sicily or Spain, which you can enjoy, sitting on the suede seating, with some wonderful little delicacies. I love the plates of charcuterie and cheese, which I like to match with the different wines.
Soft lighting and New World flavours
Above all, I like coming to Vyne to unwind and for a change of atmosphere. There are some little touches which I love when it comes to the décor, like the candles burning on all the tables. It’s a bit like the perfect cellar that you dream about having in your own home, and you get a chance to renew your appreciation of the sensual and tactile experience of wine. Though European wines are certainly available there, the cellar is better known for its “New World” selection, from Australia and Argentina, as well as from Chile*. Vyne also gives wine-tasting classes; excellent if you want to top up your wine knowledge.
Open Monday to Thursday, 6 pm to midnight, Friday and Saturday from 5 pm to 1 am, Sunday from 4 pm to 10 pm.
* Alcoholic beverages should be consumed in moderation. Please drink responsibly.
I love Amsterdam's open spirit. It's easy to meet people and have rich, interesting conversations. The heart of the city is bubbling over with cultural initiatives, secret restaurants and nature routes that relax you in no time. I want to share it all with you!
