When the weather’s nice, why not hire a bike and cycle southwards along the banks of the River Amstel and spend a carefree time at the magnificent garden of Anne-Marie Fontijn?

5,000 m² of wonderful views and scents

In an area formerly taken up by her mother’s rose garden, Anne-Marie has created a garden where you can do more than just enjoy looking and inhaling; for a small fee you can also pick some annual flowers and make your own bouquet. Scissors, bucket and string are all available at reception!

Halloween and pumpkins

The Zomerbloemen Pluktuin (which literally means the garden where you can gather summer flowers) also holds theme-based days like the pumpkin harvest day on 20thSeptember, when you have the chance to carve unusual faces in the pumpkins. My six-year-old neighbour also loved celebrating Halloween there (at the end of October) as you can come in disguise and there are loads of “scary” activities to enjoy.

Open Wednesday to Sunday, 11 am to 5 pm. Booking required for theme-based days.

Laurence, 46 a cool mum

I’m the mother of two supercharged children. I’ve also been living a great love affair with Holland for the past 20 years! I’ll take you to places in Amsterdam that will make you feel good, where the products and the welcome are high quality and where, most importantly, you’ll never stress out. Ready to go?
