Why wait to be grown up to become the captain of a beautiful ship? Childhood dreams come true at Miniport World on a pond in the middle of the Amsterdam Bos!

The cap is free

The excitement reaches its peak when we come into view of the dock, or rather, the port (that's what it is at a child's scale) where pretty little four-seater electric boats are anchored. A few minutes later, the young sailors have their life vests and a nice captain's cap on, ready to take to the high seas!

But first, they have to listen the harbour master's briefing because sailing is like driving: you have to do it responsibly. Don't worry though. It's super easy to operate the levers and instruments on board.

Beautiful little electric boats

Choose your boat (marine firefighter, sea rescue or ferry) and away you go! Children seven and older pilot their boat with an adult; those over 12 are on their own. Apprentice sailors can criss-cross the pond at will for a good half hour. Speed up, stop, turn around and go back...everything is allowed except running into each other!

The children are in permanent radio contact with the harbour master. It makes them feel like they're real captains and they get a navigation diploma in due form when they get back to the dock. The outing ends with a boating knot contest. It's really cool!

Laurence, 46 a cool mum

I’m the mother of two supercharged children. I’ve also been living a great love affair with Holland for the past 20 years! I’ll take you to places in Amsterdam that will make you feel good, where the products and the welcome are high quality and where, most importantly, you’ll never stress out. Ready to go?
