Due to work on the high-speed line in The Netherlands, trains will not stop at the Schiphol station.

The Schiphol station can only be reached by local trains departing from Rotterdam. To reach Paris, Brussels or Antwerp, you must purchase a ticket from Rotterdam. Print then your travel confirmation to travel free between Rotterdam and Schiphol. This will be your ticket.

When people look for furniture in Amsterdam, they immediately think of trendy furniture and the big Dutch designers. Yet, the city has independent shops like my personal favourite Neef Louis that will be sure to surprise you!

Post-industrial and cool

Neef Louis sells design furniture too, but it's very different from what you'll find in other shops. It's a great place to go to browse. You’ll have to find the hangar in the north part of the city first, right behind the old shipyards. The place is in its owner's image: post-industrial and cool.

Ali Baba's cave

You'll find old office furniture at great prices at Neef Louis' bazaar. It fits right in with the current industrial fashion trend. The place is full of objects and furniture of very different styles. You can often find little treasures like Gijs Bakker-style chairs or Starck furniture.

I go mainly for the lamps. There's always a retro train station projector or an industrial lamp straight out of a science fiction movie that would be a hit in a living room. It's a great place to get off the beaten track at affordable prices. Neef Louis has really been on a roll these past years.

I spend a lot of time in front of the computer, but I prefer to be followed on a bicycle than on Twitter. I love Amsterdam for...its little streets, riches, treasures and all of the spots where you can get a really good beer. Follow the guide! My little extra: discovering nature
