This restaurant opened up in my neighbourhood last year and I'm sad that I didn't get to know it sooner. It doesn't look much from outside but you need to go inside Jaspers to really discover what it's like - a place that gets your taste buds going just by pushing open the door.
Creatives at the stove
The decor is simple and classy, but most of all it is the welcome that is spot on. The layout of the tables makes every client feel like a special guest. The kitchen is in full view of the dining room. The chef and his commis work from there and remain on hand. Anyone interested can see their dish being prepared in detail but my attention is first and foremost directed to the menu. Expertly done.
The dishes are creative and delicious. The carefully chosen ingredients exude freshness and combine beautifully together. The food is a feast for the eyes before tantalising the taste buds. In gastronomic tradition, Nieke, the sommelier chooses a wine that is the perfect accompaniment to each of our dishes.
The right price
Unlike traditional haute cuisine restaurants, the menu here is affordable. The menu is changed every two weeks. I often wonder where Jasper draws his inspiration from. The result is that clients come back to discover the new dishes and it's absolutely imperative that you book to get a good table. But it's so worth it.
I spend a lot of time in front of the computer, but I prefer to be followed on a bicycle than on Twitter. I love Amsterdam for...its little streets, riches, treasures and all of the spots where you can get a really good beer. Follow the guide! My little extra: discovering nature
