A legacy of Charlemagne
The benefits of Aachen’s warm sources were discovered by the Romans who built the city’s first baths. Charlemagne was a fan of thermal waters and revived the tradition which had been abandoned. The "Carolus" thermal baths honour him by using his name.
Traditions from all around the world
The diversity found at the Carolus facilities is astonishing. Roman baths, hammams, Turkish and Icelandic baths, Asian and Baltic saunas, caves, terrace, beach...well-being is available from a wide range of traditions. It’s somewhat like a huge thermal amusement park. The Carolus baths also offer a programme of massages and body care à la carte for absolute relaxation.
