Brussels
City of contrasts
The City of Popes, land of gastronomy and winemaking, classified as UNESCO World Heritage
Imagine strolling in the historic streets of a beautiful Provençal town. Admire its impressive Palais des Papes. Yes, in the past, before settling in Vatican, the Pope and his court resided in Avignon. Then, take a strawberry ice cream to the Jardin des Doms, the highest point of the city. Admire the impressive views over the Rhone Valley. If you are lucky and the weather allows it, you will even see a small part of the famous Mont Ventoux.
Made famous by the song “Sur le pont d’Avignon”, where, as the lyrics go, everyone would dance in circles, the city hosts a world-famous theatre festival each year. And for the record, it was not on the bridge but rather on its banks that the people of Avignon would dance!
Shall we take you there?
