When it comes to shopping for a tailor-made suit or an elegant designer outfit without having to pay an arm and a leg, the fashion capital of the world is home to a few well-kept secrets. Enjoy some stylish Parisian souvenir hunting.

In the Haut Marais district

When I was a young dynamic executive (in great shape), I found it terribly difficult in Paris to locate a shop selling chic, trendy suits at an affordable price. But more than 20 years later, this shop still exists and the concept is even more refined. Stock B is the factory outlet shop for the Bidermann textile group, which markets the brands Arrow, Azzaro, Gant, Courrèges, Sherrer, Rochas, Kenzo and Yves Saint Laurent, as well as the house brand, Ecce. During the sales, you can come away with a suit for as little as €150 or a cashmere coat for only €200. Even without the sales, it's very much worth your while and, above all, the choice is spectacular within this 800m² shop.

Hurrah for artisans!

To be self-confident and comfortable in all situations, I now prefer to treat myself to the luxury of made-to-measure suits: Kees Van Beers is a real master tailor. This Dutch native arrived in Paris in 1991 and worked for the greatest Parisian fashion houses before setting out on his own. In his workshop, everything is orchestrated to produce a one-of-a-kind suit. So, go to the shop with your ideas and desires firmly in mind and then let KVB advise you on the rest. The end result is sure to be impeccable and as quality never goes out of fashion, you could always order more of the same further down the road.

Steve, 49 ENTREPRENEUR

Comfortable in working-class neighbourhoods and the tonier areas of Paris, I never get tired of rediscovering this timeless city. The Sex Pistols set the pace when I was younger. New technologies fill my working days now. My little extra: discovering fine eating spots around the capital for romantic dinners!
