A regularly rendezvous of the young Avant-garde takes place in Aachen's Galerie von der Milwe. Young art lovers and collectors will find extraordinary limited edition works that bear the unmistakeable signature of their artists.

Keeping to the bare minimum

In the heart of Aachen, right next to the town hall, lies the Galerie von der Milwe. Maria-Helene von der Milwe carefully searches for contemporary art that conforms to her motto: "Art should be accessible and it should make its mark on the art scene." Alongside attractive photographs and spatial installations, there are also pieces of object art and paintings to discover. The exhibitions in the gallery, which was founded in 1988 and is primarily a forum for young artists, change five to six times a year. A discussion with the gallery owner will quickly show you just how passionate a member of the Avant-garde she is.

Living for art

The focus of the exhibition programme is placed on multiples and limited edition prints. Von der Milwe is adept at picking her artists. Over the decades, a few of her young new discoveries have gone on to become recognised artists or professors. The list of artist is highly heterogeneous and includes names such as Suse Wiegand, Takako Saito, Stefan Sous, Heike Weber and Natascha Borowsky. If you want to find out about the latest exhibits, we recommend looking at the website. The gallery is open Tuesdays to Fridays from 14.00 to 19.00 and on Saturdays from 11.00 to 15.00.

I've always loved Cologne. The city is industrial and romantic at the same time. I love my city for its galleries, classical concerts and elegant restaurants and its traditional and very trendy bars! My little extra: I love words, the arts and literature!
