Chinese noodles, traditionally prepared, floating in a tasty broth where coriander dances with soya, prawns, beef, spices; le Bon Bol, in English ‘the Good Bowl’, really lives up to its name!
It’s not unusual to see a crowd in front of no. 9 rue Paul Devaux – and with reason. Behind the window of this well-known Asian restaurant in the financial quarter, a Chinese chef is making noodle pasta by hand, stretching it, winding it, in keeping with tradition. There’s something about his assured, sweeping movements that arouses curiosity. Such proof of quality certainly gave me an appetite!
Who’s never given in to the ease of a packet of freeze-dried noodles sold in bulk in the supermarket? Believe me, once you’ve tasted one of the noodle soups (my favourite is definitely the honey-glazed pork) or stir fried noodles at le Bon Bol, you will feel guilty for ever having brought such shame on Asian cuisine. Even more so when you know that, at lunchtime, the restaurant offers lunch for the reasonable price of €6.
I work as a fashion consultant, tear through the papers every morning, race off to concerts whenever I can and claim ""belgitude"" as a guarantee of original quality! My little extra: new shops, trendy concept-stores, organic restaurants and artists' workshops.
