Located at 50 de la rue d’Orme in Schaerbeek, the Art-deco door of the Nalanda Institute transports us thousands of kilometres from Brussels, to the highest Himalayan peaks. Total escape from start to finish. With its harmonious palette of colours, the temple of the institute is a very beautiful example of authentic Tibetan Buddhist art, which I would never tire of seeing.

Wonderful decoration

The decoration of the temple was overseen by a Tibetan artist, as well as number of Belgian volunteers, making it really rather amazing. You can admire the four central pillars that represent the four noble truths, upon which the teachings of Buddha are based. The vibe of the place is soft and soothing, and you nearly forget the passing of time.

Tibet in the heart of Brussels

Meditation sessions take place in the most incredible part of the temple where the grand Buddha stands majestically surrounded by the mandorla, decorated with precious gems and a small statue at the heart. I have vivid recollections of the 2009 ceremony when the statue's eyes were opened, a mixture of intense emotions and feelings of wellbeing.

My fashion job takes me around the world throughout the year. I love flea markets and hunting for antiques year round, meeting up with friends at art show openings, going to fashion shows and being first to discover a new restaurant.
My little extra: introducing people to the "arty" and underground side of Brussels!"
