Hidden away in an anonymous street in the Châtelain district, Tan is my organic grocery of choice. As well as a vast range of produce impossible to find elsewhere, Tan offers an education in seeing food in a wholesome and alternative way.
Cross-Cultural Living Food
Tan is based on the principles of Feng Shui, a calm and welcoming environment that is dominated by the warmth of natural wood and a feeling of harmony. It instantly puts me at ease! I love to browse their regularly updated book selection or look at the kitchen utensils, which are both beautiful and practical.
The first-floor restaurant offers various 2 or 3-course meals and has a large selection of delicious vegetarian dishes. They even have a terrace where you can eat during the summer or take a break if you feel tired. The guiding principle is to avoid over-cooked food, thus aiding digestion.
Organic fine wines
Tan also attracts customers looking for organic fine wines* from all four corners of the globe. I’ve tried a few and have never been disappointed.
Open Monday 10:30 am to 6:30 pm, Tuesday to Saturday 10:30 am to 11 pm, restaurant closed Saturday lunchtime.
* Alcoholic beverages should be consumed in moderation. Please drink responsibly.
My fashion job takes me around the world throughout the year. I love flea markets and hunting for antiques year round, meeting up with friends at art show openings, going to fashion shows and being first to discover a new restaurant.
My little extra: introducing people to the "arty" and underground side of Brussels!"
