Each time a friend or my family visits me in Brussels, I receive the same comments on the old-fashioned charm of some of the trams still in circulation. It's true that there are some lovely old examples still in service. But if you'd really like to get a grip on the past, it's worth visiting the Tram Museum, in the Woluwe depot hangars. In addition to a large collection of public transport vehicles from Brussels, fans can trace the history and evolution of the tram ways and buses.
An excursion from days gone by.
But that isn't even the star attraction. Every Sunday from April to October, the Museum immerses us several decades into the past. On board an authentic tram from 1935, we leave to discover the capital on a journey of 40 km. Added to the charm of travelling in an old-fashioned vehicle that gets your imagination going, is the unique pleasure of winding through the different quarters of the city such as the Ixelles Ponds, the Palais de justice, Avenue Louise or Rue Royale... However, be sure to book for this unforgettable trip.
I teach tennis in the city and also write about culture for a number of publications. I love to travel and meet people. My city? It's an improv concert in a down-to-earth bar, an exhibition built on a work site, a play performed in the heart of the old city... My little extra: combining sport and culture!
