Be prepared to go on a sensory journey. First of all at La Quincaillerie you won't believe your eyes The decor is out of this world. A few seconds later, your taste buds follow suit, drunk on rare pleasure.

The clock sets the tempo

You've barely stepped through the door before you are completely won over and charmed by the enormous clock which sits proudly in the middle of the central staircase. Set in forged iron and pretty wood detailing, the atmosphere is reminiscent of its former existence as an ironmonger's. It's clearly a success as we remain awestruck. But it's time to sample the delicacies in store. People have raved about the elegant and creative cuisine. The menu reveals a huge variety, from French gastronomy to subtle Japanese touches.

Bresse chicken and chocolate truffle

There's no obvious choice, as the entire menu is appealing. Tempted by the seafood platter, I choose the Bresse chicken en papillote with apples and new season vegetables. Madeleine, who runs Quincaillerie, affords us some insight into the wine list with one of her particular talents as a wine expert and points us in the direction of a Côte du Rhône*. Delicate presentation, perfectly cooked, and bursting with flavour, the sweet/salty choice proves to be a winner. A first small culinary miracle, that continues with a chocolate truffle. Light and delicate, it is a perfect conclusion to this delicately flavoured meal.

Gabriel, 32 TENNIS PRO

I teach tennis in the city and also write about culture for a number of publications. I love to travel and meet people. My city? It's an improv concert in a down-to-earth bar, an exhibition built on a work site, a play performed in the heart of the old city... My little extra: combining sport and culture!
