Imagine palm trees, and a wide green view with a river in front of you. I love the feeling of touching sand because it puts you immediately in a summer mood. One of the best places to get the feeling is in Bocadero, beach-bar-restaurant next to the river Scheldt…
Ok, I have to say that Antwerp hasn’t got the hottest Summers in Europe, but whenever the sun is shining, you will find practically everybody on a terrace drinking the heat away. During the summer we have several pop up beaches that will bring a tropical atmosphere to our city. Some palm trees within sight, a beach under my chair and a Mojito* in my hand and I’m in a happy. And I’m not the only one…
Although Antwerp is located next to a river, we don’t have any bridge crossing the Scheldt. We have many tunnels, even one only for pedestrians, but it will give you a wide view on the left bank side. You can enjoy a lot of green when you are laying in a chair on the beach of Bocadero. Besides the bar they also have a great restaurant. So if you feel hungry, you can grab something to eat in this place on the beach called Berlin. From noon till late at night, drinking or eating: you can stay there for a long, long time… And believe me, you will not be the only one!
Open weekdays: 11am till …
Weekends: 10am till …
Antwerp has no secrets for me: designer shops, fashion design and custom-tailoring workshops, pastry shops you can't afford to miss, small, quaint hotels off the main tourist routes, cultural book shops and wine bars... You'll love to come back. Promise! My little extra: fashion!
