A temple to vintage furniture, the gallery-shop Alainko grew out of the passion of its owner, Alain Hens, and his penchant for Scandinavian, Belgian and German furniture.

Vintage district

After six years selling online, Alain Hens hatched a plan to create a space he could use as a sort of laboratory. He decided to set his sights on the Kloosterstraat, Antwerp's vintage row. The bright and spacious shop allows him to present his latest acquisitions. It's all so beautifully arranged that you can instantly picture how the furniture would look in your own home. The quality, beauty and durability of the pieces are paramount here, which naturally has its price…

Mission

Alain feels he has a mission, to raise the general public's awareness of design, which remains too little known, in his view. He doesn't toss about names of big designers, but simply invites us to attentively look at his objects to learn to appreciate their unique design, manufacturing, originality… Each object sold at Alainko has a story to tell, and such a fascinating one!

Marie-France, 32 Public relations manager

Born in Africa, I've lived between Europe, the United States and my homeland. A real mix of cultures! I'm always connected to social networks and on the lookout for great fashion, lifestyle, music and outing deals. I work in Antwerp as a public relations manager. I'm also a presenter for a TV music channel. My little extra: I like to get out and meet people.
