Beni Falafel
Lange Leemstraat 188
Antwerp
Beni Falafel, a 100% vegetarian fast-food eatery has been delighting a cosmopolitan crowd since 1973. This middle-eastern speciality is served with various accompaniments, such as ratatouille, hummus and creamed aubergines. Located beyond the tourist quarter, this food outlet with its simple, fresh food is well worth the detour.
Only a few weeks ago, I knew nothing of the existence of Beni Falafel, until one of my friends told me they had found the best falafel in Antwerp!
With my mouth already watering in anticipation, I made a beeline for it the very next day.
In this modest setting the vegetarian clientele, comprising mainly Hindu and Jewish people, flock here on a regular basis. As soon as I arrived, Beni greets me warmly and recommends I try one of the house specials. I trust him completely and off I go to eat a gargantuan meal: creamed aubergines, stuffed spinach turnovers, hummus, salads, pita and falafel, all topped off with a strawberry and banana smoothie. What a feast!
This establishment whose existence I was quite oblivious to has been a feature of the street since 1973. Its great value menu attributes to the continued success of the eatery.
Since discovering it, I'm there pretty regularly, making it almost my HQ!
Open Monday to Thursday from 11:30-23:30
Open Friday from 11:30-14:30 and Sunday from 11:30-23:30.
Born in Africa, I've lived between Europe, the United States and my homeland. A real mix of cultures! I'm always connected to social networks and on the lookout for great fashion, lifestyle, music and outing deals. I work in Antwerp as a public relations manager. I'm also a presenter for a TV music channel. My little extra: I like to get out and meet people.
