The only shop in Amsterdam to still sell kites - For the last 35 years Joe's has been an unmissable stop-off to ensure successful holidays with the kids!

Some wise advice

Look up: from classic diamond-shape kites for beginners to controllable devices for acrobatic displays, to no-frame "bow" type kites - the sky's the limit as they say! It's impossible not to get excited by such a range to choose from. And at Joe's, advice forms part of the service so you are sure to come away with a kite that matches your skills or those of your little darling. So, if like me, you have the nightmare of having to leave your beach towel every two minutes to get the kite flying again for the little guy, why not choose a single line kite with a tail! Stability guaranteed.

Fancy making your own kite?

Joe’s, is also the place to be for kite makers (and model makers as it happens). You will find fabric in every possible colour for the sails, including Tyvek, a synthetic material on which you can draw and paint; wooden, carbon or fibreglass rods; lines and thousands of other accessories to personalise your masterpiece. And just in case kites don't excite you (how strange!), Joe's also stocks boomerangs, juggling balls, yo-yos and frisbees, each more bizarre and crazy than the next.

Open Thursday and Friday from noon till 6 p.m. and Saturday from noon till 5 p.m. Closed on Sundays and Mondays.

Laurence, 46 a cool mum

I’m the mother of two supercharged children. I’ve also been living a great love affair with Holland for the past 20 years! I’ll take you to places in Amsterdam that will make you feel good, where the products and the welcome are high quality and where, most importantly, you’ll never stress out. Ready to go?
