Due to work on the high-speed line in The Netherlands, trains will not stop at the Schiphol station.

The Schiphol station can only be reached by local trains departing from Rotterdam. To reach Paris, Brussels or Antwerp, you must purchase a ticket from Rotterdam. Print then your travel confirmation to travel free between Rotterdam and Schiphol. This will be your ticket.

Restored is appropriately named, as the things it sells in the shop are new but appear to have been made from old and re-used materials. What is important here is that things are transformed.
You’d probably do well not to take your wallet with you when you go round Haarlemmerdijk, as the variety of original fashion shops is endless. I thought I’d been around the whole place until I came across Restored. Its window, which is not particularly colourful, almost goes unnoticed, but the originality of the items on display catches your eye. That’s when you discover that it’s not just a clothes shop but a shop selling designer items with clothing.

A wall made up of small, white units

It’s not a large shop but you need to spend a bit of time here to see everything. A wall covered with small white units forming cupboards sets the tone, with each one turning out to be a shelf, and each with all sorts of items to discover. My favourite is the re-worked crockery, such as the tea-cups with feet.

Totally original

Not everything is made using reused materials but items are always here on account of their originality. It’s a hard place to resist.
New items come on display regularly as the shop works with ten or so different designers. I also really like the lamp that looks like a polystyrene package with a pattern on it of…a lamp !

I spend a lot of time in front of the computer, but I prefer to be followed on a bicycle than on Twitter. I love Amsterdam for...its little streets, riches, treasures and all of the spots where you can get a really good beer. Follow the guide! My little extra: discovering nature
