Bourbon Street is a Mecca in Amsterdam for people who love live jazz and rock music. It calls itself a “blues club” but it’s really rock music that rules there. The Blues Brothers statues above the entrance tell you what colour to expect in black and white.

A spirit of rebellion

Amsterdam is resolutely Rock ‘n Roll, with its unruly and party aspect. Though I like other musical styles, I like to return to Bourbon Street to immerse myself in the atmosphere. The music is less important to me, but I enjoy the quality of the bands that play there and the clever way they interact with the public. Bourbon Street opened in 1990 but the décor is a bit outdated. But this isn’t what’s important; we should be watching what’s going on on stage. You go to Bourbon Street for the live music.

Until dawn

I didn’t discover this place because it produced a rock star; I was taken there by friends at a time of day when the bars are closing. Bourbon Street stays open until 4am and until dawn at weekends.
It doesn’t cost much to get in and the atmosphere is always great. It really is a great place to go at night when you don’t feel like going to bed!

I spend a lot of time in front of the computer, but I prefer to be followed on a bicycle than on Twitter. I love Amsterdam for...its little streets, riches, treasures and all of the spots where you can get a really good beer. Follow the guide! My little extra: discovering nature
