The "cathedral cellar" is a monument to local nightlife. It’s appealing in a rustic way that defies fashions.

"Nothing has changed here"

There are many rumours about the "cathedral cellar". One of them says that there was a tunnel between the famous bar and the cathedral! There have been many stories since the "Domkeller" opened in 1972. It is located on a charming square in the middle of the historic district and is a must for many Aachen residents who appreciate its rustic charm and simple atmosphere.

Clearly diverse

The Domkeller has many regulars, some of whom have been coming for over forty years. The bar brings together a very eclectic group of patrons from diverse backgrounds and generations. Hardworking students can take refuge in the room on the first floor to work from 10 am to 6 pm and take advantage of the free WiFi. Families like to come and eat on the terrace where they can order the same dishes as the gourmets next to them. Music lovers get together every Monday for a varied programme of blues, jazz and world music.

Opening hours:
Sunday through Thursday from 10 am to 2 am.
Friday and Saturday: from 10 am to 3 am
